INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS
Since sugar and maple syrup were the only products marketed when the Cooperative was founded, CITADELLE has continued to expand opportunities for maple products. In 1930, the first chemist, Armand Roberge, committed to enhance the quality standards, but he also contributed to the development of new products. Maple butter made its appearance in 1932. It was the only maple butter to be described as “100% pure” because it was exempt from any mixture and composition. In 1934, we were already promoting another maple product: granulated sugar.
Today, the Cooperative has a wide range of diverse and innovative products. Several of them have won awards, highlighting the creative and innovative spirit advocated by the company.
production of sugar blocks has long represented an important activity for the Cooperative.

The quest for innovation makes CITADELLE a company in constant expansion. The development of new sectors and divisions demonstrate the will of CITADELLE to be a leader in the industry. The merger of the agricultural cooperative organization of beekeepers of Quebec, the acquisition of the Maison Bergevin, the building of a third transformation factory and the development of the bistros The Maple Delights, today Délices Érable et Cie., clearly demonstrate the innovation that has always shown the Cooperative.
